This Aladdin’s Castle operated in the Metrocenter Mall as a second arcade, competing with Diamond Jim’s. The arcade opened along with Metrocenter Mall on March 1, 1978, as the largest enclosed shopping mall in Jackson, Mississippi, offering over 100 stores and services across two levels. As an arcade situated within this bustling hub, Aladdin’s Castle provided a recreational space for patrons, featuring coin-operated video games and other attractions characteristic of mall arcades during its operational period.
It’s unclear exactly when it closed, but the last newspaper mention of this location was in May of 1986. It’s likely that it closed soon after. The competing Diamond Jim’s location likely outlasted it, into the 1990’s. Metrocenter Mall officially closed on August 15, 2018, following years of decline due to changing demographics and economic shifts, bringing an end to the era of establishments like Aladdin’s Castle.
