Fullerton, CA (1841 W Orangethorpe Ave) (Also called West Fullerton Center ) was a Pizza Time Theatre that opened in March of 1980 and closed in late 1985.
The first mention of the store would be on March 18th, 1980, in an expansion announcement for Southern California stores. It would be noted Fullerton’s lease was already signed. It is unknown exactly when the store opened that month. During its opening, a promotional event would involve a Chuck E. mascot arriving off an Air California plane to be greeted by former Fullerton Mayor and City Councilman Dwayne Winters. Dwayne and Chuck would ride in a limousine to the Fullerton store, where the first pizza was served to him and the first manager of the store, Richard Roop. The manager of Huntington Beach, CA (15511 Edwards St), Dave Zitney, was also in attendance. Assistant manager of Huntington, Joe Fisher, would take part in training the kitchen staff at both the store and later La Habra, CA (901 Harbor Blvd) over the coming months. The Grand Opening also included 200 pre-schoolers and 300 Little Leaguers in attendance.
The store’s first promotion would be the Silly Pizza Contest, with the contest starting likely at the beginning of April and was marked to end on the 20th. The store’s second week of sales would hit a new record for tracked stores during their first month of operation. On April 13th ads would go up for assistant managers in Southern California.
In early 1981, the store, La Habra, CA (901 Harbor Blvd), Huntington Beach, CA (15511 Edwards St), and Garden Grove, CA (11889 Valley View St) would participate in the “Pizza Leagues” where softball players at each store would compete. These four stores and the Long Beach, CA (4706 Los Coyotes Diagonal) location would also sponsor California Surfs soccer team’s MVP award.
On June 14, 1985 the store would participate in the Tickets to Summer Fun promotion. The last mention of the store before closure would be on September 21, 1985.
The store would close in late 1985. An auction by Joe Presswood Co. would be held, selling the belongings of the store on December 18th, 1985 alongside other California and Nevada stores that month.
