Red Door Tavern

The Red Door Tavern, located at 3180 Roswell Road in Atlanta, Georgia, began its operation in 2004, establishing itself as a notable dive bar within the Buckhead nightlife scene. Recognized as a Buckhead neighborhood staple, it is regarded as an original establishment that helped launch the area’s social atmosphere. Owner Steve Shamatta, alongside his staff, cultivated a welcoming environment for patrons, aiming for a sense of community where “locals come to be locals”. The tavern remains a popular gathering spot, often serving as a retreat after events in Buckhead.

In 2019, the Red Door Tavern expanded its offerings with the addition of “Arcadia at Red Door Tavern,” an 800-square-foot, 1980s-themed game room located adjacent to the main entrance. This interactive space features over 20 classic arcade games, including titles such as Galaga, Joust, Jurassic Park, Ms. Pac-Man, and Tekken, alongside Skee-Ball and Big Buck. Arcadia is notable for its mural-clad walls depicting classic gaming characters and flooring uniquely crafted from over 180,000 pennies. In 2020, celebrating its sixteenth anniversary, the tavern underwent a remodel that encompassed the retro arcade, a redesigned patio, and updated bar tops. Beyond its arcade, the Red Door Tavern provides a lively atmosphere complemented by bar games, a digital jukebox, live music, and sports. It continues to operate, serving as a recreational hub for the Atlanta community.
