Diamond Jim’s Arcade: Peachtree Mall

Diamond Jim’s Arcade in Columbus, Georgia, served as a recreational fixture within the Peachtree Mall, located at 3111 Manchester Expressway. Opening in 1982, the arcade offered coin-operated video games and other attractions during the era when such venues were popular. However, its initial run was relatively brief, as it reportedly closed within two years, facing strong competition from another established arcade, Aladdin’s Castle, which had been present in Peachtree Mall since its opening in 1975 and was a preferred destination for many.

Despite its initial short operational period, Diamond Jim’s Arcade later reopened, continuing to provide entertainment for the local community’s youth and families, though the overall fascination with arcades had begun to wane. For many in Columbus, the arcade remains a source of nostalgic memories, with former patrons recalling spending significant time there during the 1990s and celebrating events like birthday parties. The arcade was no longer in operation by 2012, marking its closure as a community entertainment hub.
