Respawn Arcade, located at 148 Calhoun Street in Alexander City, Alabama, opened its doors in September 2022, quickly establishing itself as a significant entertainment venue in the Lake Martin area. Founded by James and Jessica Duncan, the arcade represents the culmination of a decade-long passion for collecting and restoring arcade machines, which began with a Mortal Kombat cabinet. After years of amassing a substantial collection and renovating their chosen location, the Duncans transformed their personal hobby into a community-focused establishment.
The venue offers a wide array of gaming experiences, blending classic arcade machines like Cruisin’ USA, Buck Hunter, Pac-Man, air hockey, and Skee-Ball with modern attractions such as virtual reality games and dedicated console gaming stations featuring Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. Notably, all arcade games are set to “free play,” allowing patrons unlimited gaming time after paying an admission fee. Beyond providing entertainment, Respawn Arcade actively contributes to the local community by collaborating with technology students from Southern Union Community College, who assist in repairing and maintaining the arcade’s extensive collection. This initiative underscores the arcade’s role not only as a recreational hub but also as a site for practical learning and community engagement in Alexander City.
