Tepey’s Taps & Tacos, also known as Tepeyolot Cerveceria, opened its doors in Jacksonville, Florida, in late 2020, offering a unique blend of Mexican culinary traditions and craft brewing. Owner Luis Melgarejo envisioned a space that honored his Mexican heritage, naming the establishment after Tepeyolot, an Aztec earth god meaning “heart of the mountain”. The venue’s journey began with a food truck in August 2020, serving Mexican street food while construction on the brewpub was completed, a process affected by pandemic-related delays. Located at 2130 Kings Avenue, the building itself holds local historical significance as one of the few remaining structures from the former “Times Square” commercial district.
This San Marco establishment quickly became a community hub, celebrated for its house-brewed lagers, scratch-made Mexican tacos, and a collection of well-maintained modern pinball machines. Operated in conjunction with Pinsomniacs Pinball, Tepey’s hosts regular pinball league nights, establishing itself as a local destination for pinball enthusiasts. The brewpub fosters a family-friendly atmosphere, offering a diverse selection of food and beverages, and frequently hosts local events such as the “Tepey’s Pop-Up Mercado”.
