Aladdin’s Castle in Springdale, Ohio, was a popular arcade located at 139 E Kemper Road, within the Cassinelli Square shopping center. Opening around August 1976, coinciding with the debut of Cassinelli Square, the venue served as a vibrant entertainment hub for the local community. It featured a rotating selection of the era’s prominent coin-operated video games and pinball machines, including titles like Spy Hunter, Tron, and various Pac-Man iterations. Patrons often purchased tokens and exchanged redeemed tickets for prizes, a common draw for mall-based arcades.
As a fixture in Cassinelli Square, Aladdin’s Castle provided a dedicated recreational space for Springdale families and youth, offering a lively environment for social gatherings and birthday parties. The arcade chain aimed to create welcoming, family-friendly spaces within shopping malls. While an exact closing date for the Springdale location is not available, most Aladdin’s Castle venues experienced a decline and closure in the late 1990s and early 2000s, following broader shifts in the arcade industry and mall retail. The Cassinelli Square location, like many of its counterparts, eventually ceased operations before the Aladdin’s Castle brand was fully retired in 2021.
