Sun King Brewery

Sun King Brewery, located at 135 N College Ave in Indianapolis, Indiana, opened its doors in July 2009, marking a significant return to local brewing as the city’s first full-scale production brewery since 1948. Founded by Dave Colt and Clay Robinson, the brewery quickly grew from a modest 15-barrel brewhouse in a former warehouse to become the largest brewery in Indianapolis and the second largest in the state. Sun King gained recognition for its innovative approach, including being among the first Indiana breweries to package its beer in cans, and has earned numerous accolades, such as medals from the Great American Beer Festival and the World Beer Cup.

Beyond its brewing achievements, Sun King Brewery serves as an important community hub, actively supporting local non-profits and contributing to the arts, culture, and youth development across Indiana. The downtown location, which welcomed 175,000 visitors in 2019, offers a tasting room and hosts various events like trivia nights and music bingo. For patrons seeking entertainment, the venue also provides pinball machines, with titles such as Spider-Man noted by visitors. Sun King continues to operate, maintaining its role as an integral part of Indianapolis’s social and cultural landscape.
