Barrel of Fun – Rivergate Mall

Barrel of Fun - Rivergate Mall

Barrel of Fun was a prominent arcade located within the Rivergate Mall in Goodlettsville, Tennessee. Opening sometime in the late 1970s, it quickly established itself as a significant entertainment hub for the local community, especially during the 1980s and into the early 1990s. The arcade featured a distinctive, polished wooden, barrel-shaped entrance that welcomed countless visitors seeking amusement. Inside, patrons could enjoy a wide array of classic arcade games, including popular titles such as Pac-Man, Donkey Kong, Centipede, Galaga, and Space Invaders.

For many area youth and families, Barrel of Fun served as a beloved recreational destination, where generations gathered to play games and create lasting memories. The venue, known for being a “huge 80s arcade,” eventually saw its name change, reportedly becoming “Atari Expo” in the late 1980s or early 1990s, followed by “Cyberstation.” While the specific closing date for “Barrel of Fun” under its original name is not precisely documented, its operations as such wound down by the early 2000s, long before the Rivergate Mall itself officially closed on February 13, 2026, marking the end of an era for the shopping center and its past tenants.
