Alcove Tavern

Operating in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, since September 2009, Alcove Tavern, also known as Alcove International Tavern, distinguishes itself as the city’s first smoke-free, upscale neighborhood tavern. The venue was established following the “Free-the-Hops” bill, which permitted higher ABV beers in Alabama, and quickly became recognized for its extensive craft beer selection, contributing significantly to Tuscaloosa’s burgeoning craft beer scene. Beyond its focus on craft beverages, Alcove Tavern cultivates a warm and intimate atmosphere, eschewing typical bar decor for imported art from Peru and local artwork, and has expanded over the years while retaining its cozy ambiance.

The tavern offers a range of entertainment options within its “Gameroom,” which features arcade games, darts, and a dedicated High-End Pinball Parlor, showcasing several “Insider Connected” Stern Pinball machines and a city leaderboard. Alcove Tavern also hosts live music, including jazz nights, and provides a relaxed environment conducive to conversation, appealing to a diverse clientele of students, young professionals, and older patrons. It has been recognized for its unique approach, earning a spot on Men’s Health magazine’s “Best College Beer Bars in America” list and accolades from Tuscaloosa Magazine for “Best Beer Selection” and “Best Bar for Adults.”
