Sultan’s Castle, an arcade located within the Raleigh Springs Mall at 3386 Austin Peay Highway in Memphis, Tennessee, provided a dedicated entertainment space for the local community for many years. The Raleigh Springs Mall itself opened on August 11, 1971, as one of Memphis’s first two shopping malls, quickly becoming a significant retail and social center for the Raleigh area. Sultan’s Castle, later known as Fun-N-Games, offered various coin-operated machines, including classic arcade titles such as Street Fighter I.
As the Raleigh Springs Mall experienced a decline with the opening of newer shopping centers, Sultan’s Castle, like many other mall tenants, eventually ceased operations. The mall officially closed on November 18, 2016, with demolition beginning in May of the same year to make way for the Raleigh Springs Civic Center. Sultan’s Castle, through its presence in the mall, contributed to the recreational landscape of Memphis during its operational years.
