Operating in Nashville, Tennessee, The Soda Parlor offered a unique hybrid experience that combined a soda shop with an arcade and apparel store, becoming a cherished community hub. Founded by comedian and YouTuber Olan Rogers, its initial location opened in Marathon Village on October 25, 2014, eventually moving to 966 Woodland Street in East Nashville by 2016. The venue provided “free play” vintage arcade games, including titles like Donkey Kong, Street Fighter II, Ms. Pac-Man, and Galaga, alongside an upstairs area featuring a mini original Nintendo and board games for a relaxed atmosphere. Patrons could enjoy specialty bottled sodas, creative ice cream floats, “Mondaes” (waffle sundaes), and “Moonshakes,” all while browsing Olan Rogers’ popular apparel line.
The Soda Parlor quickly established itself as an East Nashville staple, fostering connection through various events, including popular “Fan Appreciation Nights” and even hosting the premiere party for Rogers’ animated series, “Final Space.” The establishment was deeply significant to its owner and the local community, symbolizing a place for creativity and gathering. Tragically, The Soda Parlor at 966 Woodland Street ceased operations after sustaining damage from a devastating tornado on March 3, 2020. Following its closure, the spirit of The Soda Parlor was revived in the form of a mobile vintage airstream food truck named Mondaes.
