Time Out: Hickory Hollow Mall

Operating within the vibrant Hickory Hollow Mall in Antioch, Tennessee, Time Out served as a dedicated entertainment venue for the local community. The arcade likely opened alongside the mall itself, which inaugurated on August 11, 1978, and quickly became a popular destination for families and youth. As part of a larger retail and recreational complex, Time Out offered a variety of coin-operated video games and pinball machines, contributing to the lively atmosphere of the mall during the golden age of arcade gaming.

Throughout its operation, Time Out, or other arcade iterations such as The Gold Mine, Tilt, and Galaxy Arcade, was a significant draw, particularly for teenagers seeking social interaction and entertainment. The Hickory Hollow Mall flourished for several decades, but experienced a notable decline in the late 2000s, eventually being recognized as a “dead mall” by 2012. While the mall officially closed in 2019, it is probable that Time Out, like many other tenants, ceased operations sometime during the mall’s period of decline.
