The Asheville Pinball Museum, located at 1 Battle Square within the historic Battery Park Hotel in Asheville, North Carolina, opened its doors on August 30, 2013, initially occupying a smaller suite before expanding into a larger space by 2015. Founded by T.C. and Brandy DiBella, this establishment offers an interactive journey through the history of pinball and classic arcade games. The museum houses a diverse collection of over 80 games, including more than 40 pinball machines and 40 classic video games, with some pinball machines dating back to the 1930s and 1940s. Notable pinball titles include The Addams Family and Humpty Dumpty, the first machine to feature flippers, while arcade classics like Donkey Kong and Pac-Man are also available. Each machine often features a plaque detailing its production date and historical significance, providing an educational context for visitors.
Beyond its extensive collection, the Asheville Pinball Museum distinguishes itself with an all-day play policy, allowing unlimited access to its games for a single entry fee, eliminating the need for tokens or quarters. The venue serves as a cultural hub for the Asheville community, preserving the heritage of arcade gaming and offering a nostalgic experience for older generations while introducing younger players to physical gaming. In addition to the games, the museum provides snacks, sodas, and local beers, fostering a family-friendly atmosphere where visitors can play, learn, and engage with a rotating selection of machines.
