Georgetown Drive-In

The Georgetown Drive-In, located at 8200 State Road 64 in Georgetown, Indiana, has offered a unique cinematic experience to its community since its opening on October 4, 1951. Initially operating with a single screen and accommodating 350 cars, it was first run by Harry S. Miller and Edward Campbell. The drive-in became family-owned when Bill Powell’s parents acquired it in 1965, a tradition that continues to this day. A second screen was added in 1996, expanding the venue’s offerings, and while the audio has been upgraded to stereo FM radio, it notably retains some of its original working drive-in window speakers, preserving a nostalgic element for visitors.

As one of the oldest and longest-running drive-ins in the region, and one of the few remaining in the Louisville metropolitan area, the Georgetown Drive-In serves as a cherished recreational hub. Beyond its dual-screen movie presentations, the venue provides a full concession stand offering traditional snacks and a maintained playground for children, a feature reminiscent of its 1950s origins. Families often arrive early to engage in games while awaiting showtime, contributing to the communal atmosphere. The drive-in also hosts special events like car cruises and themed nights, further cementing its role in fostering shared memories under the stars for generations of local families and visitors.
