Player 1UP Rock Hill

Player 1UP Rock Hill, situated at 140 East Main Street in Rock Hill, South Carolina, opened its doors on August 6, 2019, establishing itself as the city’s inaugural 21-and-older arcade bar. Founded by Rock Hill residents Mike Bost, Steven Fowler, and Howard Bohrer, the venue was envisioned as a vibrant social and recreational hub for the downtown area. Player 1UP offers patrons a nostalgic array of approximately 30 vintage arcade video games and pinball machines, including classics like Pac-Man, Ms. Pac-Man, Galaga, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and Donkey Kong, alongside attractions such as air hockey, Foosball, and Skee-Ball. A distinguishing feature of the establishment is its operational model, which includes a cover charge allowing for free play on many games, with individual games also accessible via a credit system. The venue further enriches its community offerings with a full bar serving craft beers and cocktails, a diverse food menu featuring items like pizza and wings, and a schedule of events that encompasses video game tournaments, pinball competitions, music bingo, karaoke, and live concerts.

Designed to be family-friendly until 9 PM daily, the establishment transitions to an adults-only environment thereafter, providing varied entertainment options for different age groups throughout the day and evening. The owners sourced many of their vintage arcade cabinets from a local businessman who discovered them in a barn in Virginia, contributing to the retro atmosphere. Through its blend of classic gaming, culinary offerings, and organized events, Player 1UP Rock Hill continues to serve as a distinctive recreational destination within the local community.
